Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
As we’re finishing out the year, a lot of people are thinking about what New Year’s Resolution they are going to make for the new year. I think most people make resolutions in hopes of changing their lives or themselves. But how do we really change or become new? The only way is through Christ. We get stuck in our own way of doing things and although they may not be bad they may not be what God wants in our lives. We have to allow Him to change our mindset so the old things can pass away and we can become new creations in Him! Let’s make a “resolution” to focus our minds more on Him this year and less on the things and circumstances around us. What I started doing in 2019 is each week I write down what I’m thankful for. Also at the beginning of the year I wrote out a list of things I was expecting or wanting God to do. I called it “Expectancy”. On New Year’s Eve I’ll go back and read it to see how many of the things happened. And I’ll probably make a new list for 2020.
A good way to get your mind focused on Christ is by reading a devotional each day. If you are wanting to write down what you’re thankful for but are having trouble getting started try Good Days Start With Gratitude:A 52 Week Guide To Cultivate An Attitude Of Gratitude: Gratitude Journal. Or maybe you just want to jot some things down there are also lined and unlined journals available as well.
And of course if you’re going to be doing all that writing you are going to need some pens. Why not get creative and make it look pretty by using colored pens or you might also want to highlight some things in your devotional or Bible.
