For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son. That whosoever believes in him will not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Barabbas, the only time he is mentioned is at Jesus’ trial. The crowd was given the choice of whether they wanted him or Jesus to be set free. He was a notorious criminal, guilty of murder but was released, so that Jesus, an innocent man would be crucified for our sins. I think the importance of the four Gospels mentioning him is because he represents all of mankind in the fact that he didn’t deserve to be set free, but was. We don’t deserve to be set free from our sins either. But that’s exactly what God sent His son Jesus to do. Jesus was beaten, crucified, and rose again on the third day, all for us! The fact that Barabbas was guilty of murder shows that it doesn’t matter what we’ve done. When we accept Jesus gift of Salvation, we are forgiven and set free from those sins and we receive everlasting life!
God loves us so much he sent his son to earth to die for our sins! We don’t need to make sacrifices for our sins anymore! The curtain in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom allowing ANY and ALL of us to go directly to God for whatever we need including forgiveness of sins! Are you ready to be set free by Him? If so head over to the Plan of Salvation page to find out how.
