  1. The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want.
  2. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters.
  3. He restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake.
  4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.
  5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
  6. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I want to focus on verses 1 and 4. If the Lord is our shepherd and we’re following him He will take care of us. That doesn’t mean we’ll have everything we want, but we’ll have everything we need. Verse 4, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.… I use to think this verse was talking about being in a situation where your life was in danger. In 2015 I flew to Las Vegas for 8 days than rented a car and drove to Phoenix, which I was a bit nervous about for various reasons. While in Vegas this verse kept coming to mind and I didn’t know why because I wasn’t going to be in any situations where my life was in danger. I later realized what this verse is really telling us is not to worry God’s got everything under control. These two verses go hand in hand because if we’re following the Shepherd we don’t have to worry we’ll want for nothing.
