I’m a pretty independent person, and rain, snow and wet floors are all things I have to consider before going out by myself. If there’s snow on the ground I have to think about if the store or place of business I’m going to will have the parking lot cleared because with my crutches snow is difficult to walk in. And ice, well you might as well forget about it. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to walk on! I always have to chuckle at people who tell me to be careful on the snow and ice, because it’s basically impossible-unless I have assistance from a friend, co-worker or family member.

You, might be wondering how rain poses a problem. Well rain itself doesn’t. However, it causes things like parking lots and sidewalks to be wet which in turn causes my crutches to be wet which makes walking on floors that aren’t carpeted to be slick. If I don’t dry them off really good, down I go! Ouch! All these things have to be considered before going out alone. Ugh! And of course I live in Ohio where you never know what the weather’s going to be like!
